Though we may not be able to control the nature of a disaster, we can control how we prepare for and/or respond to them. To help organizations lessen the adverse effects of any disaster, Pillars of Sustainable Education, a program developed by Architecture for Humanity and Alcoa Foundation, is donating a total of $5,000 to disaster projects of your choice.
So, choose your favorite project! We know choosing just one of these projects might be difficult -- we get that – they all have merit. What we’re looking for is a high impact project that has the potential to educate – good ideas and lessons learned should be shared, not coveted. Projects should be sustainable, both environmentally and socioeconomically. While perhaps addressing global issues, they should also positively impact the local community. And last but definitely not least, they should be actionable, meaning that their ideas can be adapted and applied in another context.
Once you’ve made your choice, voting is easy. Click on your favorite project, then help spread the word any way you can until the polls close at 05:00 PM EDT on July 02, 2014. The 10 projects with the most votes will each receive $500. Read the full terms and conditions.
