Haitian contribution caps an incredible afternoon at Youth Rock the Rebuild
Last week Haiti design fellow Schendy Kernizan added another entry to his burgeoning Video Blog for Students Rebuild. But this time he didn't have to say very much–when the words could be sung so much better! Kirra Elisabeth, a Haitian student at the Pétioville school of Cours Privés Edme, which has been helping Global Nomads conduct student-to-student interactive video conferences around Port-au-Prince, heard about the Youth Rock the Rebuild Haiti benefit concert in California and humbly offered an overseas contribution. She wrote and performed the tentatively-titled "We Know We'll Get There" a cappella with a duo of back-up singers. The video was broadcast at YRR last Sunday.
If you missed any of the concert, which featured some pretty talented young musicians, you can catch up with the archival footage on Justin.tv. Justin.tv streamed Sunday's event live, netting an incredible 130,000 views. Kudos to all the bands who, despite the holidays, event conflicts and finals week, came out and connected for some serious long-term Haiti fund raising.
