Asha Deep Foundation
Location: Shahid Nagar, Ghaziabad

The Asha Deep Foundation runs schools and orphanages for underprivileged children across Delhi. The community, with which the foundation works, was initially inhabited by rag pickers and is slowly developing. The location is surrounded by very low income migrant families from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh who have relocated in search of work. The proposed location is surrounded by 8 slum areas with an approximate population of 300,000. More than 50% of the population is Muslim and are mostly rickshaws pullers. With little access to education, most children do not attend school regularly.

The center has a ground of 572 square meters.

Improvements will be made to:
Toilet + locker rooms
Playing field + sports court
Outdoor classroom + multi-purpose area

Project Description:

Architecture for Humanity has partnered with Magic Bus to improve the infrastructure at 3 to 6 centers that will facilitate community oriented sports programs in under privileged neighborhoods of Delhi. The developed sports/play fields and supporting infrastructure will help inculcate a sporting culture among children and youth in the community and help Magic Bus use its unique Sports for Development (S4D) curriculum to provide access to sport and every childs right to: play; education; gender inclusion; health care. This will help harness and groom new talents, renew enthusiasm among youth for physical fitness along with imparting skills to promote community integration and welfare of destitute/delinquents and other marginalized youth, by using, successfully proven, Magic Bus S4D programming.
