Preliminary Schedule for Design Review Weekend

Friday, August 18, 2006:

  • Architects arrive in Biloxi (rides to and from the Gulfport GPT airport need to be arranged with Architecture for Humanity - please e-mail travel arrangements to matt@architectureforhumanity.org).
  • Check into hotel (Isle of Capri hotel and casino)
  • 6pm: Mixer & Dinner sponsored by Architecture for Humanity, hosted by Mary Mahoney's.

Saturday, August 19, 2006:

  • 8am: Breakfast at hotel - free voucher for breakfast buffet will be included in welcome packet
  • 9am-10am: Architects taken to Salvation Army Dome (Yankie Stadium) to set up presentations
  • 10am-1pm: Architecture Fair @ Salvation Army Dome (Yankie Stadium - corner of Division and Lee in Biloxi, Mississippi)
    • Participating Architects and Families are required to attend
    • Lunch will be provided at the event
    • this event is open to the public
  • 10am-3pm: Home Tour of refurbished homes affected by Hurricane Katrina. This event will highlight the efforts of numerous relief agencies coordinated by the Biloxi Relief, Recovery and Revitiliazation Center ('the Center').
    • this event is also open to the public
  • 11am-1pm: Design Your Dream Home Workshop. Kids work one-on-one with volunteer architects to design their dream home.
  • 1pm-4pm: Architects travel to each of the five sites to meet the families, hear their stories and talk about their individual needs.
  • 6pm: Dinner @ Hand's On Gulf Coast for architects, families, Architecture for Humanity crew and volunteers, the Center staff, Hand's On volunteers.

Sunday, August 20, 2006:

  • 8am-10am: Breakfast and Q&A with architects, familes and Architecture for Humanity crew
    • hosted by Farraddays' at the Isle of Capri hotel and casino
  • Architects depart after breakfast
