We just wanted to take a moment to send a huge thank you to all of you who helped support, participated in and bid on our "I Love Architecture" Charity Auction. We'd like to especially thank all of the amazing architects who donated works to the auction. You are why we love architecture!

We cannot do what we do with you. Every day architects around the world are giving back to the communities they love because of your donations. Thank you for showing your love for architecture. It's been a tough time for the profession. Ever since, we posted our love letter to architecture in February your messages and reminders of why design matters have helped us remember why we do what we do.

With all these sketches on the verge of being purchased, we couldn't resist throwing a view party with our compadres at BAR Architects. Kris Jong, Architecture for Humanity project accountant and more-than-modest photography hobbyist, was on hand to capture the event.

Architecture for Humanity was given an outstanding welcome in D.C. during the AIA National Convention and Design Expo. A big thank you to everyone who visited the booth to show their love and support for our organization or to learn more about our mission.

The staff, design fellows, and volunteers had a blast shaking hands, sharing stories and having a laugh with the amazing group of designers, architects and builders who were curious about what we do.

We are excited to announce that we will be participating in the 2013 AIA Convention in Denver from June 20-22, 2013. Remember to mark your calendar and start planning your trip. We hope to have many more great gifts and surprise events next year.

Last night Stanford architecture grad Andrew Luck was selected as the #1 pick in the draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He also did one more thing - Sign an "I Love Architecture." NFL football.

We've got quite a collection of sketches developing here in San Francisco for the #iLoveArchitecture campaign. Every couple of days we get the pleasure of unwrapping a new arrival from some of the most talented design offices in the world.

Now, we're pretty good at recognizing a signature designer's ARCHITECTURAL style, but we began to wonder whether you could distinguish an architect by THEIR SKETCH ALONE. Crop just a piece of it, and then Instagram that crop, and you've got a formidable challenge.

The love keeps a'rollin' in. So far we have contributions from a dozen top architects and over 30 more professional pledges of support. Not to mention hundreds of expressions from architecture fans the world over. And still, we want more!

It has been a tough time for the profession. Projects have been put on hold, layoffs have been unrelenting and a stagnant industry has put us all on edge. Putting aside the data you’ll realize that regardless of the economy we work in the one industry that continues to be admired the world over. Strangely, admired by almost everyone except by the very people that create it. This Valentine’s Day it is time for us to fall in love again.
