The submission period for the 2009 Open Architecture Challenge is now over. Tens of thousands of architects, designers, teachers and students collaborated to create the classroom of the future. We are stunned by the response and the quality of designs submitted. To all of you, Thank You.

We are currently in the process of jurying the challenge and we will keep you all updated on this incredible initiative. Embedded is a sneak peak of Season Two of the School ReDesign produced by EdLab at the Teachers College, Columbia University. This is the first of a three part profile of two out of the hundreds of teams that participated in the competition.

    According to the World Bank, educating all children worldwide will require the construction of 10 million new classrooms in more than 100 countries by 2015. At the same time, millions of existing classrooms are in serious need of repair and refurbishment. We asked designers and architects to partner with students and teachers to envision the classroom of the future.
