Related program: Design Open Mic
The finalists have been chosen and the time slots allotted. Next Saturday, June 25th from 4-5 pm, six presenters will take the stage in Los Angeles at Dwell on Design for Architecture for Humanity's traveling Design Open Mic. The seven-minute Pecha Kucha style design presentations will all touch on the theme of "Regeneration" since our hearts and minds have been with those affected by the natural disasters in Haiti, New Zealand and now Japan. The six presentations will focus on how design can be a tool to heal and improve the world.
We received an outpouring of enthusiasm and were in the difficult though exciting position of having to choose a handful of presentations out of the many visionary submissions. Check out the finalists topics and bios, and if you're in Los Angeles next weekend, definitely come to Dwell on Design - a three-day smorgasbord of the latest in design innovation from June 24th to the 26th.
If you submitted a design and weren't selected, or if this whets your appetite, consider signing up for our next traveling Design Open Mic in NYC on Oct. 22nd. It will be part of Design Like You Give a Damn: LIVE! - our second annual two-day humanitarian design forum at the Center for Architecture. We will post a call for submissions in the late summer.
Thanks to all who sent in their designs for our Dwell on Design traveling Design Open Mic, and stay tuned.
*If you're in San Francisco, our doors are always open every Wednesday from 12-1 pm for our weekly Design Open Mic at hq. Come on by.
