Related program: GAMECHANGERS | sports micro-venture fund
It's been a long time in the works, but here is a sneak peek of the design for the redesigned/reconstructed Manhattan Bridge Skatepark, located in NYC's Coleman Oval Park. Coming Spring 2012! This project was made possible by a GAMECHANGERS grant awarded to community partner Steve Rodriguez.
The GAMECHANGERS Sports Micro-Venture Fund, a partnership between Architecture for Humanity and NIKE, is a revolving grants program that funds the design and construction of innovative, sustainable, and safe places to play and gather. The new skatepark is designed by design lead Steve Rodriguez, with collaborator and builder California Skateparks. The design is going through final approvals with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and we hope to begin construction soon. Stay tuned.
