Initial update on Students Rebuild Japan blog.
Guess whose paper cranes are finalists for "Most Effective Awareness Campaign" for the 2012 Classy Awards! Check out the story here, and don't forget to VOTE! Voting closes on JULY 26, and the initiative is facing stiff competition from the likes of Kony 2012 and several other worthy orgs. But we feel like our story might have had the most visible (and colorful) impact.
Stay tuned as the first project in Tohoku, Japan breaks ground July 17: the equally-inspiring Kitakami "We Are One" Marketplace and Youth Center.
For those who are new to the Paper Cranes for Japan Challenge (or if you want to be re-inspired by the journey of two million cranes), check out this film by Students Rebuild:
Friendly reminder that voting for the 4th Annual CLASSY Awards Regional Finalists ends tonight at 11:59 p.m. PST. If you haven't already, please submit your ballot for one of the incredible Finalists. We've never seen the competition this close before so every vote counts!
Remember - after you click "Submit My Final Ballot" at the bottom of your screen, you must login to Facebook or an existing StayClassy account in order for your vote to be counted. If you don't remember being prompted to do this, we encourage you to try voting again.
After voting closes, StayClassy will combine each Finalist's voting rank with their Past Winner Judging rank to determine the 64 Regional Winners. The Regional Winners will be announce on Tuesday, July 31st.
Until then, thank you for your support of the 320 Regional Finalists!
Ready to make a difference? While the PC4J challenge is currently closed, we're calling on students across the world to make a bone for the One Million Bones project. Take a stand against ongoing humanitarian crises in Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Your contribution will help create a visible petition of 1,000,000 handmade bones on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. in Spring 2013. What's more, each bone you craft triggers a $1 donation for CARE's relief and rebuilding work in these countries, up to $500,000! Click here to sign up.
