“…The new school is beautiful! Everybody in the community likes the architectural design. Each day I meet about 50 parents asking for a vacancy for next year...”
– Cecilia Martinez, head teacher
We are excited to announce the completion of the construction for the new Divino Jesus School in Chincha Peru. The old school was affected by the 2007 earthquake and more than 340 small children had no option but to stay in improvised precarious classrooms for more than 5 years.
The opening ceremony marked a very exciting day for the whole community of Pueblo Nuevo as the community offered a lot joy with great local food and some local afro-Peruvian dances to the illustrious attendants including Petra Nemcova Chairwoman of the Happy Hearts Fund and Jorge Ramos from CEO of AFP Integra – Sura Peru, sponsors of this magnificent project. Thanks to Happy Hearts Fund and SURA for building another great school (and for the images–after the break).
