True love can be found within the practice of our craft. Architecture is the merging together of learned skills and individual practice. While we are all trained to possess the skills to design a structure, what creates that place of pure beauty is the role of practice - the lifelong pursuit of excellence.
As building professionals we are exceptionally lucky. We get to infuse our passion, desire and drive into our life's work. Not every project we complete can be considered architecture but through each we are given countless opportunities to shape and influence the lives of those around us. Our spaces become vessels of human nature, where random collisions result in life-altering decisions. Our role is to maximize the opportunity for positive collisions to occur - in awe-inspiring; stunning; warm; connected and welcoming spaces.
In a few months I keynote the American Institute of Architects annual convention and get to show how we have empowered hundreds of thousands of people in dozens of countries around the world - all through the practice of architecture. Throughout our own development we continue to provide opportunities for professionals to, alongside their communities, pursue design excellence. Via the Sponsor a Day of Design initiative we directly engage architects to allow their practice to transform lives.
Today we launch our annual “I Love Architecture” Campaign, highlighting a series of buildings that have brought together skill and practice. Help share the love on Feb 14th by posting online, or embedding in your email signature.
