Mission To the Unreached, Noida Sector 121
The site is a village known as Garhi Chaukhandi. Noida, was originally a Yadav (refers to a group of communities found in India and Nepal)community on the out skirts of New Delhi, is experiencing rapid new development as land becomes more expensive and scarce in the greater Delhi region. It has a population of 10,000 to 12,000 persons, 50% of whom are migrants.
The existing building is currently being used as a church, and will be shared with Magic Bus to host training and educational sessions in the main hall and sports sessions in the field. The plot is 669 square meters.
Improvements will be made to:
Toilet + locker rooms
Drinking water facility
Interior and exterior finishes
Outdoor classroom + multi-purpose area
Architecture for Humanity has partnered with Magic Bus to improve the infrastructure at 3 to 6 centers that will facilitate community oriented sports programs in under privileged neighborhoods of Delhi. The developed sports/play fields and supporting infrastructure will help inculcate a sporting culture among children and youth in the community and help Magic Bus use its unique Sports for Development (S4D) curriculum to provide access to sport and every childs right to: play; education; gender inclusion; health care. This will help harness and groom new talents, renew enthusiasm among youth for physical fitness along with imparting skills to promote community integration and welfare of destitute/delinquents and other marginalized youth, by using, successfully proven, Magic Bus S4D programming.
