After dedicating two diligent years to executing this project, we can proudly announce that the Alexandra Football for Hope Centre is officially opened.

Managed by Grassroot Soccer, the center will provide education, HIV prevention and public health services to the local community. The youth of the township of Alexandra, one of the poorest neighborhood of Johannesburg, now have access to a safe place to learn, grow, play soccer and become leaders of their community.

The official opening ceremony was coupled with FIFA's official close out of the Football for Hope campaign. Important personalities from FIFA and the South African government gave speeches honoring FIFA's legacy after the 2010 World Cup and celebrating the impact of the entire Football for Hope program.

Another Football for Hope center is complete, and now the children of Cape Verde, too, have gained a safe place for sports, education, health and the arts. While the Tarrafal Football for Hope Center successfully held an opening ceremony in early August, the project still needed some finishing touches before the Center Host could move in. Delta Cultura Cabo Verde (DCCV) can now enjoy the wonderful views of the Atlantic ocean while serving as hub to the entire community.

The street children of Bujumbura have been celebrating the ground breaking of their new community center this week. The Kabondo Football for Hope Centre broke ground yesterday in Bujumbura, Burundi.

Construction is about to start and is scheduled to last 4 months.
This center is intended for kids living on the streets as well for children at risk in the outlying quarters, and it will aim at reintegrating those children left to fend for themselves. It also hopes to become an important hub for the local community by opening its doors to neighborhood activities.
